From 17th to 19th June 2024 the Lithuanian Maritime Academy (LMA) proudly participated in the Erasmus+ teaching mobility program at the Silesian University of Technology in Poland. This exchange fostered academic collaboration and knowledge sharing, vital for addressing contemporary challenges in maritime education and research.
Dr. Vytautas Dubra, Head of the study program Marine Navigation, delivered insightful lectures on hydrometeorology, marine navigation, and environmental protection policy. His sessions emphasized the specific challenges faced by the Southeastern Baltic Sea Region, highlighting the crucial role of comprehensive environmental policies in safeguarding maritime ecosystems while ensuring safe and efficient navigation.
Vilma Locaitienė, Head of the study programs Maritime Transport Logistics Technologies and Shipping and Logistics Information Systems, focused on the pivotal role of seaports as logistics service hubs. Her lectures also delved into the European Green Deal, exploring sustainable practices and innovations that seaports can adopt to reduce their environmental footprint, aligning with broader EU sustainability goals.
Dr. Ričardas Malkus contributed his expertise on intermodal transport, container transportation, and cargo fastening and securing technologies. His teachings provided valuable insights into optimizing transport modes, enhancing the efficiency and safety of cargo operations, and addressing the dynamic demands of global logistics.
Following their teaching engagements, on 20th and 21st June, the professors will attend the International Scientific Conference & Symposium „Transport Problems“ in Katowice. This conference presents an excellent opportunity for them to engage with leading researchers and practitioners, furthering their knowledge and contributing to the discourse on pressing transport issues.
The LMA’s participation in the Erasmus+ program at the Silesian University of Technology underscores its commitment to academic excellence and international collaboration.
