COURSES ORGANIZED AT THE SEAFARERs TRAINING CENTER:

STCW COURSES FOR SEAFARERS

The training programmes were prepared according to the International Convention on Standards for the Training, Certification and Watchkeeping of Seafarers (STCW) of 1978, International Maritime Organization (IMO) model training programmes, and the requirements of directives of the European Union (EU).

FOR INLAND WATER TRANSPORT SPECIALISTS

Training programmes are intended for the training and upgrading of qualifications of shipmasters, rivermen, mechanics, and motorists.

Lithuanian inland water transport specialists work on ships transporting passengers, cargo, luggage, mail, and performing other functions in navigable rivers, lakes, artificial water bodies and in the part of the Curonian Lagoon belonging to the Republic of Lithuania.

FOR BOATMASTERS AND CAPTAINS OF LEISURE POWERBOAT

The training programmes are intended for the training and improvement of the qualifications of boatmasters and captains of leisure powerboats. 

The programmes have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s European Inland Waterway Navigation Rules and the provisions on the training, acquisition of competence and the issuance, collection, and return of qualification documents for boatmasters of leisure motorboats and accredited by the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration.

The following refresher courses for seafarers take place every week:

– On Mondays: – Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Safety and Fire Fighting, Basic First Aid, Personal Safety, and Social Responsibility (STCW A-VI/1, 1-4). Registration at 08:00 a.m., training starts at 08:30 a.m.

– On Wednesdays: Work with lifeboats, rafts, and rescue boats (other than high-speed lifeboats) (STCW A-VI/2-1). Registration at 08:00 a.m., training starts at 08:30 a.m.

On Thursdays: Special firefighting (STCW A-VI/3). Registration at 12:45 p.m., training starts at 01:00 p.m. 

IMPORTANT: When registering for repeated courses, it is mandatory to submit the original course completion certificate.

COURSE ATTENDEES:

  1. Can use LMA library and computers;
  2. Can get a permit to park cars for free in the courtyard of LMA;
  3. Can stay in the LMA dormitory at Karklų st. 2/8, Klaipėda during the course period;
  4. Are served hot drinks during breaks;
  5. Can use the services of LMA cafe ‘KAJUTKOMPANIJA’ from 09:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m. from September to June.
