On 5th June, the Lithuanian Maritime Academy (LMA) had the pleasure of welcoming a distinguished delegation from Hochschule Stralsund, Germany, following their visit to Vilnius Tech. This visit marks a significant step towards forging a robust partnership for Erasmus+ and other collaborative projects. The delegation, composed of professors and administrators, explored potential avenues for cooperation, aiming to enhance academic and cultural exchange between our institutions.
The day began with an introductory meeting between the delegation and LMA’s management and academic staff. This initial session sets the tone for a productive day, with discussions centered around mutual interests in academic programs, research opportunities, and student exchanges.
Following the meeting, the guests were given an in-depth tour of the LMA facilities. This excursion included visits to various departments and laboratories, showcasing LMA’s state-of-the-art resources and commitment to maritime education and innovation.
In the afternoon, the delegation enjoyed a guided tour of Klaipėda’s historic old town, providing them with a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of our city. The tour fostered a deeper connection between our visitors and the local environment, further enriching the day’s experience.
The delegation from Hochschule Stralsund comprised six notable individuals, each bringing a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm for fostering international collaboration:
Prof. Dr. André Grüning – Professor for Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science;
Prof. Dr. Johannes Gulden – Professor for Renewable Energies / Hydrogen Technologies, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science;
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steven Dühring – Professor and Director of the Study Program Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering;
Doreen Mlodzik – Project Coordinator for Start-up Service and Innovation;
Caroline Neumann – Head of International Office;
Magdalene Weber – Coordinator for Internationalization.
The visit concluded with a strong sense of optimism and mutual commitment to future collaboration. Both institutions expressed a keen interest in developing joint educational and research initiatives, with a particular focus on Erasmus+ programs. This visit not only opened doors for potential partnerships but also reinforced the importance of international cooperation in advancing educational excellence between Vilnius Tech, Hochschule Stralsund and LMA.
LMA looks forward to welcoming Hochschule Stralsund again and embarking on a fruitful journey of academic and cultural exchange. Together, we aim to build a vibrant network that benefits students, faculty, and the broader academic community.
