The Lithuanian Maritime Academy (LMA) continues to foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange in maritime education and training. In a recent development, the LMA initiated a two-day course aimed at providing incoming Erasmus+ naval students from the Mircea cel Batran Naval Academy in Romania with comprehensive insights into the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) exercise planning process.
Taking place on the 25-26th of March 2024, the course titled „Introduction to NATO exercise planning process“ represents a significant step in facilitating cross-cultural learning and enhancing the professional skills of future naval officers. The collaboration between instructors at the Junior Officer Commanders’ Training program and the visiting naval Erasmus+ students underscores the LMA’s commitment to excellence in maritime education.
The course aims to equip participants with a foundational understanding of NATO’s procedures and protocols concerning exercise planning, a crucial aspect of modern naval operations. By delving into topics such as scenario development, resource allocation, and operational coordination, students will gain valuable insights into the complexities of multinational exercises and their role in enhancing interoperability among allied forces.
