As the 2024-2025 academic year commences at the LMA, the institution is pleased to welcome a vibrant and diverse group of international students and Erasmus+ participants. With a strong commitment to fostering global maritime education, the Academy continues to serve as a hub for cultural exchange, academic excellence, and professional growth. The guests were welcomed by the Director, as well as the Heads of Study Programs and other community members.
This year, LMA admitted 87 international students into its prestigious study programs, including Marine Navigation, Marine Engineering, and Marine Transport Logistics Technologies. These students represent a broad range of countries, such as Ukraine, Morocco, Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and others, reflecting the Academy’s growing international reputation. These young professionals will embark on a journey of rigorous training, state-of-the-art simulations, and hands-on learning, preparing them for impactful careers in the maritime industry.
In addition to the full-time international students, LMA will also host 15 Erasmus+ students for a one-semester exchange. These students come from prestigious institutions across Europe and Turkey: Romania’s Mircea Cel Batran Naval Academy, Istanbul Technical University, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, and Recep Tayyip Erdogan University in Turkey. The Erasmus+ program continues to be a cornerstone of the Academy’s international collaboration, offering students an opportunity to engage with Lithuania’s rich maritime traditions while also sharing knowledge from their own countries.
This year, LMA is also excited to welcome two Master’s students from the World Maritime University (Sweden) who will be completing a one-week traineeship under the Erasmus+ program. Their specialized research and practical experience will contribute to the Academy’s ongoing mission to align academic programs with global maritime trends and challenges.
The start of a new academic year always brings new energy, and at LMA, it is not just about academic knowledge but also fostering international friendships and professional networks. By building bridges between countries and institutions, the LMA plays a vital role in shaping the future of maritime leaders who will navigate the challenges of tomorrow’s global waters. With a renewed commitment to excellence and internationalization, the LMA is ready to embark on another successful year, full of academic achievements and international collaborations. Welcome to all incoming students and trainees – may this be a transformative and enriching experience for everyone!
